PlemPlem Gallery opening – Heilbronn, Germany

Sergej Vutuc contacted me and told me he had reserved some wall space for me to put up some photos for the opening of the new PlemPlem book/ zine shop and art gallery! They also plan to expand PlemPlem into a live venue for bands, with a bar, and a tattoo studio, and perhaps some skateable terrain. What they have going on there is one of the coolest set ups I’ve ever seen. When me and former Heilbronn resident Johnny Dachs arrived Thursday afternoon after a 3 hour train ride from Cologne, the place was pretty trashed with a lot of work still to do before the opening at 6pm the following day. Many people came together to help and artists from all over Germany set up their shows and cleaned up the area. Sergej and friends were painting the walls, hanging art, hooking up the refrigerator for some cold beers and setting up an area for some live music. Everything came together minutes before the opening and all involved as well as the gallery / shop visitors enjoyed a very special evening of the beginning of a creative place that anyone would dream of having as their own. I was proud to be a part of the opening at PlemPlem and look forward to many more inspiring events! – J. Hay

The city is doing some heavy construction in the area. I moved some stuff out of the way and 3 minutes later their was a rocky concrete sidewalk.

Amelie Göppel from Berlin preparing, otherwise known as, creating her art show several hours before opening. I thought I was late doing it the night before!

PlemPlem supports all the best companies and media. Confusion, Wasted Box, and that little Berlin skate zine called Anzeigeberlin, as well as local underground music events!

The train ride back is one of the most scenic train rides I have been on. It takes you up through the Rhine Valley a wine region in germany. There are dozens of castles dotted along the steep vineyard covered hillsides.
